PHILOSHOPERS at the International JavaScript Conference

JavaScript can be found everywhere. In fact, it’s considered as one of the most popular programming languages used by developers and industry leaders across the globe. Most digital businesses can’t live without it since they depend on the programming language to run websites, mobile apps, servers, implement machine learning and more! Learning JavaScript has therefore never been a more valuable skill to learn and invest in because of its omnipresence and endless capabilities. 

That is why we had our Front-End Developer, Andreas, travel to Munich and attend the International JavaScript Conference. These opportunities offer our employees the chance for fun and inspiring experiences, exposure to the world, engage in their personal development activities and career growth, and network with the development community. However, it was also a valuable opportunity to learn and find out from 60+ industry experts about the direction in which the trends of software development are moving, which is a change we want to be a part of and implement in our on-going and future projects.

PHILOSHOPIC Inspiring the New Generation

Contributing to the wellness of new generations means that the lives of people in the present can be improved, help the world to become a better place and that future generations can live much better lives. That is why it is so important for us at Philoshopic to be committed to having a positive impact in all aspects of society, including educating, and guiding new generations.

PHILOSHOPIC’s director and visionary leader, Demetris Constantinou, recently presented to students at the Falcon School in Nicosia, Cyprus. His lecture on “Life beyond School as a Computer Scientist” engaged students with the value of computer science, what it is like to be a computer scientist, how to become one, insights on the current job market and trends, and shared his own experience, including his first steps, and career trajectory.

We thank Costas Pringipas for inviting us! We also hope that our enthusiasm and passion for what we do encouraged the students to think about their own aspirations, and that they SMASH all of their future goals!

PHILOSHOPIC response to COVID-19 pandemic

As a team we have implemented a 100% work from home business as usual model since March 16th. We have also cancelled all travel plans or external meetings until further notice. Our priority is the health and well-being of our staff, their families and the broader society and of course the protection of the business of our customers and partners

When it comes to business, we are responding to support our customers and those businesses in need of technology solutions that address this special situation.

In almost every country the authorities are taking measures to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. Retail has either been hit by closure of stores or in the case of Grocery and Drug stores which MUST remain open and available by the special conditions imposed by the authorities – these vary by county and may include among others strict restrictions in opening hours, maximum allowed customers per square meter, guidelines on distancing or varying time slots for certain demographics.

Further more the consumer is heavily impacted by restrictions of movement (now in many countries in Europe and the Middle East) as well as the discomfort and sense of uncertainty due to the risk to catch the virus in stores or while commuting

We have already helped our customers overcome these market conditions and problems – some examples include enabling contactless transactions, digitalising physical loyalty or gift cards, setting up booking applications for planning store visits, integrating services on new channels, setting up emergency e-commerce in no time.
