PHILOSHOPERS at Devoxx 2022

Devoxx, is a developer community event that takes place every year in Belgium. This year during Monday the 10th until Friday the 14th in October, the conference comprised of 5 full days of sessions where the developer community got together, networked, listened to inspiring talks from industry-leading experts, and explored the latest trends in technology. Java, Cloud, Big Data, Security, Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Programming Languages, Methodologies and Developer Culture made up the key topics discussed at the event.

PHILOSHOPERS once more could not be absent from such event. This year, our developers Kyriaki and Georgia had the opportunity to attend Devoxx. From conferences and deep dives, that talked about topics in detail, to tools-in-action and hands-on labs, that presented new technologies and were interactive, it was an excellent chance for them to develop professionally and grow their career by networking, learning new skills, and finding out what’s new in the developer world.

PHILOSHOPERS also never miss the chance to explore each place they go. Therefore, our developers made sure to enjoy the beautiful scenery and walk around the impressive streets of one of the largest cities in Belgium, Antwerp. The city, known as the diamond capital of the world, had a rich experience to offer.

There are a lot of interesting things about Belgium. French fries were invented there, as well as spas, cricket, and the theory of the big bang. Also, some of the world’s best painters originate from Belgium and it has the greatest number of castles per square mile in the world. Even the fact that Belgium’s national symbol is that of a urinating boy, makes it a truly unique country.

At PHILOSHOPIC we might be able to live without coffee, but we cannot imagine a world without chocolate. Our developers, as you might expect, adventured into Antwerp’s chocolate museum, and brought us back some of Belgium’s finest souvenirs – chocolate!

We look forward to next year’s Devoxx!

SMASH CARDS, is a cost-effective cloud-native solution, part of PHILOSHOPIC SMASH framework that enables customers to purchase fixed denomination or rechargeable cards and either gift them or use them as an alternative to cash or banking cards. The cards are currently physical though digital may be introduced soon. Usage is simple for the consumer and possible instantly from the time of purchase or top-up and the customer can check the balance and card history at any time through the company website or mobile app as well as at the points of sale or customer service desks, which caters for all consumer preferences and digital skills. At the same time the business has complete and effortless central control in real time for security and business performance monitoring.

The expansion of SMASH CARDS in Bahrain as well as the constantly growing long term partnership with the Tamimi Markets group, fills us with pride and motivates us further to expand the PHILOSHOPIC SMASH Framework and solutions including Rewards/Loyalty programs, Promotions and Campaigns management, targeted cross platform messaging, Self-Scanning, and others, towards getting consumers, retailers, distributors and brands to enjoy an exciting experience together in a demanding and constantly evolving marketplace.  We are thankful to the Tamimi Markets group for being our partner in this journey for more than 7 years!

PHILOSHOPERS at JavaZone 2022

Norway is known for its stunning Fjords, Northern Lights, Viking heritage, and even heart-shaped waffles! But something that people may not know about is Norway’s JavaZone conference, which has actual Vikings participating, well, sort of. The community event was held in Oslo during the 7th and 8th of September and organised for developers to learn new things, share knowledge, and socialise. Stella and Vasilis from our back-end software development team attended the two full days of inspiring presentations, engaging workshop sessions, networking, fun games, and parties.

“I attended the JavaZone event mainly to gain insight on new tools and technologies but also generally elevate my experience as a developer. There were many ideas and new technologies that we were introduced to that can be of use to our processes at PHILOSHOPIC. The conference was also lots of fun, filled with exciting challenges/games held by the conference partners, and a great party with DJs, bands, and lots of beer! The experience overall was incredible.
